Some of the lights could be swapped for darks, preferably charcoal to repeat the scarf, or a raspberry for more color, or navy for a less neat look.
Seer Style Archetype with Menswear Touches
For a menswear inspired take for Seer, I've toned down the ornamentation,
The blazer is sharp and minimal but softened with a belted wrap and the two tone belt adds visual interest.
A plain sweetheart tee and richly colored skinny jeans take the background.
Gold accessories including a layered chain belt, evil eye necklace, and bold watch bangle set.
Loafer with gold detail.
Valkyrie Style Archetype with Menswear Touches
Remember when I said I'd take on androgynous looks for the Fantasy 9 types? I tried half a dozen times without getting anywhere, because I was stuck on the term "androgynous". My conclusion after wrestling with it, is that what is androgynous is entirely specific to the particulars of an individual's features, and thus not something I can demonstrate without a specific person to style.
So instead I'm creating looks for the 9 with menswear touches that incorporate what's currently in style, and first up is Valkyrie:
A sleek tweed jacket that crosses neatly in the front and has a slim lapel. This could also work for some Nymphs.
The blouse is the berry color I wanted to emphasize, and a nice step up from a t-shirt, but personally I'd rather swap it for something more fun- a chenille tank top or something with more interesting texture.
Leather gloves in color and with braid detail.
A sparkly wrap bracelet for a little glitz.
Wide leg jeans with side slits to show off the details of the ankle bootie.
Her hair with a braid somewhere in the mix.
KLM10 Autumn 2017 Challenge
Just a quick reminder that the KLM10 Autumn challenge is sneaking up! It will begin September 25th. This time there will not be points or a prize, but I'm hoping for lots of interaction, support, and community building among participants.
Have you chosen a fantasy type to explore for the challenge? I'm still thinking about the last challenge and how it is much easier to do one of the 9 base types. You really have to be particular and clear with your choices if you're aiming to express a fantasy subtype. It might be fun to ask people to guess what you were going for :) If you are looking for specific feedback (or to avoid specific feedback), make sure to tell people on each photo. Instagram is where I will be searching for tags to interact with beauties. You might also use the challenge for general style (not a type), and look to play with KLM Addition.
Not everyone around the world will be in fall weather, but I know those of us who will be are very excited to be putting on pants and sweaters again. These late summer days are my favorite for mixing and matching unexpected pieces- heavy sweaters with short skirts and sandal or jeans, boots, and crop tops.
I'd love to hear in the comments how your klm10 autumn challenge prep is going; and if you haven't signed up for the newsletter yet, make sure to do so now, as the autumn equinox edition will go out before long. Happy end of summer <3
KLM10 Summer 2017 Challenge Follow Up
I tallied the points and contacted the winner. You all did so well I thought we might have a tie, and we very nearly did! In future rounds I won't do points and a prize, BUT I will try to carve out time to interact more during the challenge.
I hope you all followed the tags and links on the last post so you could see one another's fantastical looks. See if you can guess the type before reading the descriptions :)
One thing I noticed is that when going for a subtype, you really have to go all out in order to convey it, which makes it a much trickier challenge. It makes sense though- we have 9 base types and it takes some thought and effort to convey 1/9 (base types) but in order to convey 1/54 (base types + subtypes total) in a way that is clear requires that much more attention to every detail.
Thanks again for playing and I hope to see you at it again in September <3
